THE THIRD ANNUAL GPCD WEEKEND

Women want them, men want to be them.

The third annual Christmas celebration of GPCD paintball assault took place in Forney, Texas on December 18, 2010.  2008 and 2009 were both years of shame and embarrasment for the members of TEAM ODD, but 2010 was a year of new beginnings, where the honor, pride, and courage of Team Odd shone brightly.  Team Even, perhaps overly-confident and unprepared, were repeatedly beaten soundly and quickly.

Four rookies were introduced to the GPCD: Ben Illian, Michael Marr, Bryan Kennedy, and Wilson Aurbach.

Both former MVPs were not in attendance (Thomas Seale and Brett Tatsumi) and the most lethal player (Ryan Sword) was out of commission as well.  Interestingly, all three of these aforementioned players are TEAM EVEN members, and they let down their Even comrades tremendously.Team Odd, after two years of embarrasment, jumped on the depleted Team Even and jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead.  Odd never relinquished control, winning 9-4 on the day.

12/18/10 Awards

MVP: RYAN SWORD.  Sword clearly established himself as the most valuable player, as his absence led to the previously dominant Team Even's total destruction and shame.  Hopefully he will recognize his importance and make a glorious return to the field of battle.

Most Deadly: ROBBIE WELLMAN.  Was almost always alive near the end of each battle, and he absolutely pummelled Eric Thompson with paint on the fort field.  Wellman clearly had bad intentions for Thompson as he then made a Saving Private Ryan sniper-like shot all the way across the airplane field hitting Thompson square in the center of his goggles.

Best Uniform: JOEL DURBIN.  As a tribute to Ryan Burkhardt's red and baby blue ensembles from 2009, Joel Durbin decided it was a prudent war-time decision to wear a blaze orange vest.  KEVIN CONLON deserves recognition as well, for showing his Fiji allegiance in his intimdating black Fiji sweatshirt.

The Pacifist Award: ANDY RICE. His cowardly, yet "honorable" choice to call surrender during his one-on-one stand-off with Eric Thompson led to his demise.  As Andy stood motionless awaiting a surrender that would never come, Thompson quickly re-positioned himself like a Ninja assasin for the merciless and emotionless kill.

Paintball Magnet Award: ROBBIE WELLMAN. For taking a a bare skin shot to the jaw.

The Worst Weapon Award: MICHAEL MARR.  Never has there been a bigger build up, and a subsequent let down, than when Marr charged the field and threw his "paint grenade."  It seemd more like he threw a half-filled children's sippy cup in the general direction of his enemies, that meekly drained paint onto the ground.

The William Wallace Award: MICHAEL MARR. Clearly Marr learned from his paintball mentor (and previous William Wallace winner) David Sims.  His spirited charges across the paintball fields were impressive and inspiring to watch, even as he was hammered down in a hail of paintball gunfire.  Plus, his commitment to winning by purchasing paint grenades must be commended.

The Inglorious Basterds Cruelty Award: ERIC THOMPSON.  For his cold-blooded and calculated termination of Andy Rice.  It can be debated whether Thompson should have allowed Rice to re-establish position after calling for a non-existent surrender.  But this is war, and Thompson made Andy Rice is bitch.

and last but certainly not least, the most important award of all...

The Cpl. Timothy P. Upham Cowardice Award: This award was not given in 2009, as a GPCD memeber was inexplicably offended by being called a coward.  This is the most important award of all, so it is being reinstituted in 2010.  The winner is KYLE COOK.  His perplexing decision to begin shooting paintballs into an adjoining field at a bunch of unsuspecting young kids will forever go down as one of the most dishonorable acts ever performed on the fields of GPCD battle.

It was a yet another kick ass day on the fields of paintball battle.
